If you’ve floated around here for a while, you’ll know I’m writing a book. The inevitable question that comes up when I say that is, oh cool. What’s it about?
That’s somewhat harder to answer. I suppose it fits best as a contemporary women’s fiction novel. There are certainly aspects of it pulled from my life – I haven’t gotten to the point where I can just dream stuff up and make it believable – but there are huge swaths of that real stuff that have been filled in with fiction.
I’m sitting at approximately 130 pages in, so half way, ish. I’m starting to think about the what next part. For me, that what next is a kind of two step process that happens concurrently. One: I begin an overhaul edit/rewrite; 2 at the same time, I want to begin collecting feedback from readers… my first group so to speak. There are a few (four off the top of my head) that are no brainers for this exercise, but I thought I’d brave it and put it out there for a few others to read as well. People who read me here but who maybe don’t know me well.
I’m looking for constructive criticism here, so if you might be the kind to look at something and be tempted to reply with “that fucking sucks ASS” then you need to take your negative little self into the corner for a time out, because that kinda shit doesn’t help anyone. It’s just mean and mean people suck.
